Sophia Bos is a Kingston based illustrator with a passion for nature and an eye for detail. Growing up in the countryside of southern Ontario, she was constantly surrounded by bugs, plants, and animals. These formative experiences evolved into a passion for science and nature illustration. Sophia creates unique artistic works by incorporating traditional oil painting techniques in her digital illustrations to create a buttery-smooth and painterly sensation.

Her favourite part of each project is the opportunity to learn new things, whether that be a plant species, conservation technique, animal behaviour, etc. She is passionate about utilizing illustration for education, and that starts with teaching herself. Sophia also enjoys highlighting native and endangered species in her work and dabbling in more fantastical and whimsical nature illustrations in her personal work.

When she’s not painting, you can find Sophia buried under blankets on the couch, knitting garments for her loved ones and listening to heavy metal music.
